Are braids still cool?

Elsa-Rene Henderer - Monday, October 28, 2013

They've been on trend for a while now and so i guess it's time to wonder............ ARE BRAIDS STILL COOL? And our answer is................. HELL YES THEY ARE!

Spring is in the air and we have been smashing the Perth bridal scene. But lets not limit ourselves to bridal hair we're finding braids are cool for every occasion and so diverse to add a little spice. Dress them up or dress them down, give a little edge to your basic blow out or add the boho essence to your up style. Here is a sneak peak of some the work we've done lately.

Elegance meets romance

One of our absolute faves this is the ultimate combination of elegance and romance. The low bun with the sleek and defined curls give a timeless look of sheer class and elegance however by adding s simple braid over the top and keeping it pulled back softly with a few fly aways really added a modern and romantic spin to this up style. We love love love this one, total perfection.

Romance meets fun

Another absolute fave, i had a ball doing this one. The perfect braid for blonde hair this has  a really textured feel, lots of height, loose locks and basically fun fun fun. Inspired by Jessica Alba this look has enormous flair and is very on trend and so perfect for when you're partying all day and night because if it becomes a bit tossled or loose it'll all just roll with the look.

For the princess in us all

Ladies you need a lot of hair or some serious hair extensions for this one.  This is for the princess inside us all. So so pretty and easy to see that just  few plaits gave this look a real modern spin on an absolutely beautiful and feminine look. What a pleasure it was turning this lovely bride into a princess for a day.

Perfect Braid Tips

1. Foiled/highlighted hair always look best with braids. Unfortunately braids often get lost on dark hair. If your choosing a braid for a style you will remember for life we totes recommend adding some texture to your colour.

2. Upside down braids are much softer. By doing your braids under (this means passing the hair under instead of over ) this allows the braid to sit on top of the scalp making it look thicker and softer. When you pass the hair over when braiding it pulls the braid in tight to the scalp and often has less definition and can look a bit severe. The upside down look also makes it easier to go back and pull it loose and give that more romantic look.

3. TRY LESS. Yep this is my advice, do try too hard. If your not super skilled then opt for a messy look. Then the odd lump or bubble is fine and have the confidence to wear it, boho is in :-)

How are you wearing your braid?

Awesome blog! Is your theme custom made or
did you download it from somewhere? A design like
yours with a few simple tweeks would really make my
blog stand out. Please let me know where you got your theme.

I really love your website.. Great colors & theme. Did you create
this site yourself? Please reply back as I'm hoping to create my very own website and would like to find out
where you got this from or exactly what the theme is called.

Many thanks!
